Carolijn van Noort is a PhD Candidate at the Politics Department and Media, Film and Communication Department at the University of Otago. She has started her PhD in February 2015 and submitted her PhD on 5 October 2017.
Born in the Netherlands, but curious for all kinds of dynamics internationally, Carolijn has a great interest developed for the interaction between media and politics. Carolijn has studied at four different Universities where she developed analytical skills to use in various interdisciplinary angles.
With a Bachelor and Master Degree in Media & Culture (Universiteit van Amsterdam), she learned how to conduct solid media analysis. For one year, she studied International Relations at Post Graduate level (San Francisco State University) where she learned the dynamics of international affairs. With her Master Degree in Global Business Management (Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona), she identified the commercial dynamics of a globalized economy.
During her internship at the Consulate General of the Netherlands in San Francisco, she conducted research on social media and diplomacy. In addition, she has worked and travelled in over fifty countries around the world, which makes her sensitive to various cultural contexts. Moreover, she enjoyed learning new things and meeting new people every day.
Carolijn has worked as a tutor for the following courses: ‘Women in the World’ (San Francisco State University), ‘International Relations’ (University of Otago) and ‘Culture, Politics, Policy and Global Media’ (University of Otago).
